If You're Expecting a Blessing - Bring a Bag

I set out for a walk with the intention of finding a flower. But I didn’t want to take something from the world that it wasn’t ready to give, so I kept my eyes peeled for something that had fallen on the ground.

It didn’t take me long to find a few pink bougainvillea blooms in the grass. I gingerly picked up two of them and carried on my way, fully satisfied and excited about my find.

Not long after, I spotted another bright purple bluish patch on the ground. Some very large pieces had fallen off a Blue Lily nearby. I looked at the bounty spread out before me. This was not just a single bloom or petal, but a whole head of blossoms that fanned out like a treasure.

What an absolute delight to not only find two fallen flowers, but the second one even more abundant than the first.

I struggled to carry all of the blooms in my hands without crushing them. I had wanted to take more, but my hands were full.

Spirit reminded me that I hadn’t prepared for this blessing. Although I set about with the intention and full expectation of receiving it, I didn’t plan for what would happen once it was in my hands.

I should have brought a bag even bigger than the blessing I was expecting to receive. Because not only did I receive what I was expecting, I received double, triple the volume that I thought had awaited me.

If you are not adequately prepared, you won’t be able to handle the blessing that arrives before you.

-----

Take your expectations.

Find their edges.

Destroy them.

Leave your options limitless and your hands wide open.

Take everything that’s weighing you down.

All of the “just in cases” and contingency plans.

Burn them.

Get your bag, and make sure it's ready for deposits.
